2006 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS


The Chinese American Citizens Alliance - Salinas Chapter in conjunction with The Chinese Association of Salinas annually award scholarships to deserving graduating high school students of Chinese descent in Monterey County who will be attending a post secondary accredited trade school, junior or community college, or four year college or university. Currently, the maximum amount per scholarship is $800.00. Eligible are all high schools in the Monterey County, California. The scholarship is awarded based on scholarship, community service, service to the Chinese community, extra-curricular activities, need, and personal goals.

THE FOLLOWING APPLICANTS WERE AWARDED $800 SCHOLARSHIPS


  • Tanya Ferreira, daughter of Richard and Edith Ferreira. Tanya is graduating from North Monterey County High School. She will be attending San Francisco State University in the fall. Tanya wants to become an athletic trainer.

  • Emerald Katz, daughter of CACA members Ira and Connie Katz.  Emerald is graduating from Soledad High School as the valedictorian. She will be attending U.C. Berkeley in the fall to study psychology.

  • Karla Josephine Lino, daughter of Josephine Lino and Eduardo Lino. Karla Josephine is graduating from Everet Alvarez High School and will be attending San Francisco State University in the fall.

  • Jason Ngo, son of Gui Yan Wang and Hi Lac Ngo. Jason is graduating from North Salinas High School in 3 years. He is attending UCLA in the fall and studying to become an anesthesiologis.

  • Jaron Schneider, son of Valentina and Thomas Schneider. Jaron is graduating from Palma High School and will be attending Gonzaga University in Washington to major in business and minor in graphic art.

  • Zhao Hao Yang, daughter of Xing Na Chen. Zhao Hao is graduating from North Salinas High School and will be attending U.C. Berkeley in the fall. She wants to become a physical therapist.
